This is my first week to learn Landscape architecture. In the past 6 years, I studied only architecture in different locations ( 4 years in Beijing; half-year in Taiwan; one summer in Cambridge, UK; and 1 year in Berkeley, US)

My previous work in Architecture in Arch 201

Those experiences give me a basement in architectural design, knowledge of technology in architecture, tons of software, and drawing skills. When I design a building in undergraduate, how to design the outside of buildings is the most interesting part that I want to learn. I think Architecture and landscape are both extensions of the human body, through which humans connect with the physical world without a clear boundary. My interest is exploring the connection between landscape and architecture. So, when I apply for the master's degree I choose the duel-major in landscape architecture and architecture.

My previous work in Architecture

After this week's study, my thought to landscape architecture has some differences as I thought before. In the past, I thought that learning landscape architecture is like learning architecture, focusing on form, function, programs, circulation, etc. However, this week, I learn some ‘new words’ in LA, like flow, topography, ecology, reservation, GIS, etc. These words give me a sense that LA is based on science and logistic.

I really am excited about learning new things in the semester!
